It hasn’t gone unnoticed but just a quick thank you to Alpine Works for making it happen and a successful project to get the teaching rooms in Birkbeck Central building ready for start of term.

We appreciate you guys working collaboratively with us as and making it happens.

Van Nguyen – Deputy Director of Estates Development | Birkbeck, University of London

Works were handled well and they were easy to manage from a client perspective. Works delivered on time within LSHTM provided closure window. Cost was defined and transparent, with no exclusions which is always good.

Alpine’s team was responsive and pro-active and provided any answers and clarity when and where required.

Matt Cooper – Project Manager | London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine

We just wanted to send an email to say thank you for everything you as a site and project team have done for us.

Our new department is fantastic and it has been a real pleasure working with all of you on these phases. The move could not have gone smoother and we are so grateful for all your patience and support with all our last minute questions and changes. The patients are already saying how much better they feel in the new environment.

Eleanor Woodward – Senior Operations Manager| Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust

It’s been a pretty extraordinary time in all our lives and whilst we have lived and worked in completely different ways to what was ‘normal’ you and your colleagues have done something astonishing.

When we all came together on the 23 March 2020, the delivery of the Nightingale London was urgent. We created an efficient and skilled team of teams working to a relentless drum beat. You worked tirelessly, with a remarkable level of energy, enthusiasm and integrity to deliver on the vision. After 9 days as a team you delivered first phase of 500 beds within the Excel exhibition halls ready to receive patients, plus also all the base infrastructure and enabling work for all the subsequent phases. This is a truly remarkable feat in itself. But, you continued with unflagging resolve to deliver upon everything that has been asked of you within incredibly tight timescales.

The fact that the facility was not used to it’s full potential is a really positive story and should be celebrated alongside the London hospitals that proved so resilient in the face of tremendous pressure to the extent they didn’t need a converted exhibition hall in the east of London.

I am really proud of what you achieved and to have been part of your team.
Andrew Panniker – Managing Director | Royal Free Hospital [NHS Excel Nightingale London Project]

As background information, the Emergency Lighting maintenance contract that was awarded to Alpine Works through a tendering process back in 2014, is still based predominantly on a PPM & Reactive/corrective maintenance basis across approximately 145 buildings within the UCL Bloomsbury Campus. This continued service contract remains unbroken to date. Alpine Works are also one of UCL’s framework contractors, carrying out a range of tendered M&E project work from both Estates small works and from capital development projects.

Over the years Alpine Works have strived to make UCL a safe place to work, by focussing on the key elements of the contract, to ensure our emergency lighting across our buildings remain compliant and operational. This task has not been easy as the campus holds in excess of 33 thousand emergency light fittings, with an approximate 50/50 balance of automatic and manual systems, all of which generates both system/component faults and repairs, lifecycle replacements, obsolescence all of which Alpine address in both a competent and professional manner in partnership with UCL Estates.

From an overall UCL perspective, Alpine Works is certainly an intelligent contractor, who listens and interprets requirements extremely well. Over the years, the Alpine Works contract has expanded as has the UCL estate, and Alpine’s knowledge of our emergency lighting systems across the estate is now second to none and has been made possible working in partnership with the Alpine team who have understood our requirements and by collaborating and introducing good, realistic concepts and solutions taking into account the challenges that we face not only financially but also with the size and complexity of our estate.

From a customer service perspective, Alpine Works have always been available to respond to any urgent requirement. The onsite operational team are a credit to the company and are considered an extension of UCL Estates, being polite, courteous, helpful and of course knowledgeable, always willing to assist and support, especially when faced with challenges that our development team can create unknowingly, through the numerous build projects that take place across the estate. Alpine Works’ collaborative working relationship also extends to our incumbent contractors, especially where issues can extend to other service lines, it is very apparent that the Alpine engineers are popular, very respected in their field and can work with our other contractors to focus on the issues and work together to a resolution which is often experienced.

To sum up, Alpine are a very valued contractor, working always in partnership, flexible, understanding the needs, the requirements and the levels of service that UCL expects, making every effort to not only meet them but to exceed where possible, taking into account the challenges that Alpine Works face on a day-to-day basis not excluding the vast estate of buildings and emergency lighting across the UCL estate.

Just a quick message of thanks concerning recent electrical works at the Barbican. Your electrical engineer undertook the emergency lighting repairs at Sundial Court and issued the report and certification as required.

What really impressed me was the time your engineer spent explaining each step of his works to our 3rd year electrical apprentice who recently started onsite . Whilst explaining the works , he also allowed the apprentice to undertake part of the installation in a safe and controlled environment with the appropriate isolations in place.

Once the works were completed, the Alpine engineer took time to explain the whole testing, inspecting and certification process required.

Please pass my thanks on to your engineer for taking time to explain and demonstrate in great detail the installation process to a young and aspiring apprentice.

John Cooper – Hard Services Manager | OCS

Thank you so much for going out of your way at such short notice, to ensure that we had a team in place to undertake the setup of Welcome fair. The team provided an exceptional service on the Friday.

They undertook the works in a patient and very professional manner and as you are probably aware, they went over and above on the expected service. Due to this, the weekend was a great success. I would like to pass on my gratitude you, for the amazing service provided.
