LED Lighting Replacement & Controls Project

Location: Kingston University

Alpine Works were engaged by Kingston University on a large-scale lighting replacement project across the Penrhyn Road Main Building and the Sir Frank Lampl Building at Kingston Hill. The project aimed to replace outdated fluorescent lighting with high-efficiency LED lighting, contributing to the university’s carbon reduction targets and enhancing the learning and working environment.

Scope of Work: The project involved the removal of existing fluorescent lighting fixtures and the installation of new DEXTRA LED lighting across teaching spaces and offices in both buildings. The upgrades improved energy efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and create a better-lit environment for students and staff.

  • Penrhyn Road Main Building:
    • Ground Floor and Third Floor upgrades.
    • Installation of approximately 205 LED fittings and 25 emergency fittings.
  • Sir Frank Lampl Building (Kingston Hill Campus):
    • Upgrades across three floors (Ground to Second Floor).
    • Installation of approximately 331 LED fittings and 87 emergency fittings.

Outcome & Benefits: The completion of this project resulted in a fully upgraded, energy-efficient lighting system across the two buildings. The improvements enhanced illumination quality, reduced operational costs, and aligned with Kingston University’s sustainability goals. The successful implementation of this initiative underscores the university’s commitment to environmental responsibility and modern infrastructure enhancements.
