LED Lighting and Emergency Lighting Upgrade Works
Location: University College London – Institute of Child Health
Background
Background
University College London’s Institute of Child Health required an upgrade to their existing lighting across common areas, including corridors, kitchens, toilets, and tea points.
The objective was to improve energy efficiency and sustainability by replacing outdated light fittings with eco-friendly LED lighting while maintaining the required lighting levels in these essential areas. Works also included the replacement of emergency lighting, all while minimising disruption to daily operations.
Project Execution
The project required careful planning to minimise disruption across busy common areas. The team initiated the work by removing existing light fittings in corridors, kitchens, toilets, and tea points, followed by the installation of LED units.
The new lighting was chosen to provide correct brightness levels, ensuring these areas remained well-lit. To meet safety standards, emergency lighting was installed in line with the latest industry regulations, ensuring the building had adequate coverage at all times during the installation process
Outcomes
The lighting upgrade at the UCL Institute of Child Health successfully enhanced sustainability and energy efficiency in key common areas, with eco-friendly LED lighting now providing long-term cost savings and reduced environmental impact.
The emergency lighting meets regulatory standards, offering essential safety improvements. By integrating the new systems into the existing lighting controls, the project delivered a seamless, low-maintenance solution with improved lighting quality throughout the institute
